Don't Do It !!

December 31 2023

Today is the day that inspires a lot of us to entertain New Years resolutions.  We vow to hit the gym and lose those extra holiday pounds we put on, give more-take less, eat healthier, or take that vacation we have dreamed of for years.

I don’t know too many people who made a New Years resolution and actually kept it for the entire year.  The first two weeks we have intense dedication……then we slip into forgiving ourselves for straying a bit off course….and the next thing we know, we are shoveling that piece of chocolate cake into our mouth and rationalizing ‘it’s just a piece of cake and life is too short’.

Most of the time, New Years resolutions set ourselves up to fail.

Maybe try something different this year.

Cut some strips of paper, grab a pen, and find a medium sized jar.

Every day, take a pause and write down something you are grateful for.  Write about  a blessing that happened that day.  Maybe even just a memory of something wonderful that brought a smile to your heart.

One minute at the end of each day, to be grateful.

And don't just think it in your heart, or say it out loud......write it down.

Because at the end of the year, the gift you will give yourself is a jar full of precious memories you can read through and be reminded how beautiful your life really is.

We tend to get hyper focused on needing and wanting more….rather than being grateful for what we already have.

When we let go of trying to make things happen, and simply stay in a place of gratitude… magical moments effortlessly materialize.

Truths present themselves, opportunities present themselves, and the paths you were trying so hard to carve out for yourself are placed at your feet.

Those beautiful moments don't happen because you forced them…they happen because you let go. Trust the process, trust your faith, and lean in.

Stay in a place of gratitude. The rest will take care of itself.

And eat cake..:)

But that’s just my opinion..:)
